About Us

Welcome. The Partnership for Peace Consortium (PfPC) of Defense Academies and Security Studies Institutes is a voluntary international association of institutes of higher learning in defense and security affairs that is supported by the United States, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and NATO; further background is available from the “About” tab. The Consortium is an "in the spirit of PfP" activity that supports the security policy priorities of its stakeholders. The mission of PfPC includes:

1) strengthening defense and military education through enhanced national and institutional cooperation

2) increasing the scope of multinational research on critical issues confronting EAPC nations

We create and use international networks of educators, policy makers, and practitioners in order to:
-Promote Defense Institution Building through defense education enhancement
-Sustain Regional Stability through multinational education and research
-Prepare future leaders to meet the defense and security challenges of the 21st Century.
-Assist PfP nations to build strong democratic defense institutions.

The Consortium's working groups and study groups bring together experts from across the Euro-Atlantic region to undertake projects that form the core of the Consortium's activities. Each working/study group is a community of interest and has a page devoted to it on this portal (see the “Working Groups” tab). The front page of this web portal highlights recent Consortium activities. For information on past activities, see the archives of each working group.

An annual conference, co-hosted by a Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council member nation, examines issues related to the Consortium's mission and showcases the activity of the groups.

The Consortium publishes, with the assistance of an editorial board, a professional quarterly journal, Connections, in both hard copy and on-line. Issues can be viewed on this web portal. See the publications section for further information on this and other publication products.

The Consortium produces on-line courses in a variety of subjects, available free of charge through the link on this page.

In addition to being one of the organizations which participates in the Consortium, the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies also hosts the PfP Consortium Operations Staff, the Consortium's administrative center.
